North Somerset Council planĀ 20/P/2000/R3,to build 54 houses on the land south of the Uplands has been approved.
Despite initially being overturned by the scrutiny panel Cllr. Steve Bridger approved the appropriation of the land for development.
Nailsea Town Council, following legal advice, decided not to pursue any further action to prevent the development from going ahead.
Development of the site, which was delayed by technical and boundary issues, began in the Summer of 2023.
This is one of the more controversial sites in the area as the land, for many years much used and loved open public space maintained by successive councils since 1976, and used before that, was dubiously appropriated by North Somerset Council despite objections vigorously raised since 2016.
